Fawn Mckay
Fawn McKay was born in Ogden Utah on September 15 1915. Born into the Mormon Church's original family Fawn McKay used her ingenuous talent for writing and her impressive expertise in researching to produce the incredible psycho-historical biographies of Joseph Smith, published in 1945, entitled"No Man Knows My History. The title comes from the funeral sermon delivered by Joseph Smith, founder of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. Smith shocked his listeners by telling his audience: "You don't even know my name. I haven't even met my feelings." My past is not known by everyone. No one knows my history. I wrote the 29-year old Fawn: Since that moment of candor about three dozen writers have taken up the gauntlet. A few have attempted to make him god or godlike, while some have accused him of being lying. Many have even tried an invasive diagnosis. But the problem is there are no documents. They are just contradictory. The task is to distinguish the original account from third-hand plagiarism as well as to match Mormons' narratives with non-Mormons in an authentic historical mosaic. This is exciting as well as educational. Fawn brodie was professionally committed to the task. The result of her work and writing rewarded her with world-wide fame: Thaddeus Stevens. The Devil drives (1959). Thomas Jefferson. An Intimate Historical Document (1974) as well as posthumously Richard Nixon.
