April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States is part of a select category of females who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days she will attempt to net her third medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. In addition, Ross is aiming to capture her first Olympic gold. Since she's 39 years old, it may be her final chance. However, she's convinced that top prizes are within reach. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even If we play our best, I think we could get the gold medal." "I'm planning to test a little luck." Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. Along with participating in a variety of sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors as a prep athlete. In her final game she stood out. In her own biography, during high school she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle of Champions named her the National Player in 1999. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross is playing with Klineman since 2017 but her beach game was established well before that. She has been able to win multiple events, and one was won by the legendary player of volleyball. The pair teamed along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's personal trainer. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009, was also a major force on an international level. In 2012, the pair won silver at London's Olympic Games. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team along with Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement when she retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from the high school she attended. The time she spent in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. Her freshman year in 2000 was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the award and become an All-American. Also, she was an integral player for helping the Trojans reach their way to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. Through her last two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the top of the mountain netting successive national titles. The achievements of each individual have established her as a volleyball legend. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, continues to inspire her.
