Selena Marie Gomez was born on the 22nd of July the 22nd of July, 1992 in Grand Prairie, Texas,[1] to Ricardo Joel Gomez and Texas-born[2former stage actress Mandy Teefey. Her name was inspired by Tejano performer Selena Quintanilla who passed away in the year 1995. Her mother is adopted and of Italian heritage, and her Mexican father is also of Mexican descendance. The grandparents of Gomez's father relocated from Monterrey to Texas from Monterrey in the 1970s.
